Stefano at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupo
For Stefano Matalucci (M50-55), the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupo (New Zealand) was the 4th participation in an Ironman World Championship (2 x Ironman distance and 2 x 70.3 distance).
The preparation went well, but despite the importance of this competition, Stefano's main focus is on the full Ironman distance.
The race in Taupo started well with the swim and Stefano was also able to demonstrate his performance on the bike. Unfortunately, a flat tire forced him to stop for almost 20 minutes (waiting for technical assistance). Despite this mishap, he wanted to finish the race as best as possible, which he succeeded in doing.
We are satisfied with a final time of 5:21.34, i.e. close to the 5 hour limit without any breakdowns.
After a short break, Stefano continues into the new season, with the main goal being Ironman Texas in April.
Well done Stefano and let's jump into 2025!
