Solid end of season at Lucerne Marathon for Victoria and Joel
Last Sunday, Victoria and Joel started the Lucerne Marathon. Neither of them was able to prepare as they had hoped, but they still had a solid end of the season:
Victoria had a particularly demanding time in the months leading up to it. Her original strategy to break a new PB was consciously set aside, and her training goals were adjusted. Nevertheless, Victoria remained committed and motivated, allowing her to start the race with confidence and a new target in mind. She delivered a very solid race: with a time of 03:13:27, she crowned herself 3rd in her age category and 11th overall among women. Hats off to an amazing season Victoria:
A new PB over the marathon distance at Zürich Marathon (improving by nearly 20 minutes from the previous year), completing a master’s degree, professional changes and the ability to bring out the best version of herself in so many ways. BRAVO!
Now, enjoy the well-deserved offseason, and I’m already looking forward to the chase for a new PB in spring 2025!
For Joel, one thing was clear on Sunday:
we don’t know what will happen. After an intense period in the military followed by illness right after his long-distance debut, it wasn’t possible to get back to training. Still, Joel took the risk and pursued his original goal. His incredible ability to push himself to the limit mentally while staying focused is impressive. Result: goal achieved, completing his first marathon in 02:51:34, securing 3rd place in his age group and 20th overall.
What a season! A debut with coaching and already incredible achievements in our first season together:
• First long-distance race under 9 hours: goal achieved
• First marathon in 02:50: goal exceeded (51 and 34 is much better)
Congratulations, and I’m excited for all that lies ahead!
