PB for Benjamin at the Valencia Marathon
After a time of 03:14:04 at the Munich Marathon last fall, Benjamin Elsholz stood at the starting line of the Valencia Marathon last Sunday to break the 3-hour mark.
The preparation went smoothly and as his coach I was very confident about his goal. There was a lot of excitement, but Benjamin didn't let himself get rattled and stuck to his plan. Unfortunately, due to his previous marathon time, he was not allowed to start in a faster starting block, which meant that Benjamin had to fight his way through the crowds and could not "just concentrate on running".
He ran the 42.2km very solidly, his pace only fluctuated slightly and his nutrition was perfect. But in the end it was still 21 seconds too slow. Officialtime: 03:00:21
Annoying, but the pride in the huge improvement undoubtedly outweighs. Huge congratulations Benjamin: the confirmation that you can do it!!! Valencia 2025 is coming, with a time of 02:..:… 🚀
